LOCO Roller Derby is a recreational roller derby league. We will be non-profit registered as soon as possible and operate under a non-profit structure. We are committed to promoting women’s flat track roller derby and all roller derby as a sport that can lead to fun, fitness, and friendships among its’ players. We are open to all women, 18+, that want to learn to skate on quad roller skates and want to play a recreational, low commitment and reduced contact style of roller derby.

London’s Loco Roller Derby joins a handful of leagues that will be playing recreational roller derby. You will train just like a WFTDA roller girl for fitness, and fun, but we play with modified blocking rules to reduce injury and to make the sport more accessible to all women and all athletic abilities.

In 2010, LOCO Roller Derby has recruited over 2 dozen registered derby players, with 20 insured and scrimmage players. We’ve appeared at our practice facility partner, YMCA-Centre Branch in an Open House, we’ve skated in London’s Pride Parade, and we are happy to have a booth at the RibFest this year. We are planning events for the 2010 Fall and Winter seasons now, recruiting new players, referees, and sponsors to help us improve our training capabilities and fitness facilities.

Our Objectives:

1.1 To promote roller skating, fitness, and the sportsmanship, goodwill and unity of roller derby among all participates.

1.2 To become a non-profit organization that will raise funds in order to fund the activities of the league as well as perform community or charitable functions.

1.3  To offer and follow rules, guidelines, and regulations that enhance the sportsmanship and safety of the players within the sport of roller derby, in order that it may be played in a recreational manner.
